Cottages & Apartments

Cottages & Apartments at Thornton Oaks Retirement Community

Nestled on 29 wooded acres, our campus is home to 46 cottages and 99 one- and two-bedroom apartments, all smartly laid out for comfort and livability, with large living/dining room combinations, fully equipped kitchens, and bedrooms with walk-in closets.

The entire community is built to reflect the cottage style of architecture, popular along the Maine coast. Landscaped grounds and a walking trail bordering the property provide residents opportunities to enjoy nature.

Our property and the neighboring land trust are protected from development, so you will never have to be concerned about noisy construction or a community that grows too large because Thornton Oaks will always remain at 145 homes. Our community was optimally designed to encourage neighborliness and provide an economy of scale for efficient operations.

Residents may choose to dine with their friends and neighbors in our main building, Matthew Terrace. Here, the two-story rotunda, with its grand piano, is the setting for parties and concerts. The building also houses our library, art and exercise rooms, sunroom and deck, large multi-purpose room, and a fireplace lounge where residents enjoy conversation and camaraderie.
